Day 03 (8-8-11)

I’m already loosing track of what day it is.  Things continue to go pretty smoothly.

Last night was interesting.  A few of the youth decided it was payback time for David the crew chief.  They decided to put up “trip wires” along the road to the tents.  The first “trip wire” was about knee level; the second “trip wire” was about thigh level; the third “trip wire” across the entry to the boys tent was at ankle level.  So I told them I was going to be really mad and they would be in big huge trouble if anyone got hurt.  They assurred me that the “trip wire” (6 pound fishing line) would break easily and no one would get hurt.  Before I go on, let me assure everyone that is reading this blog that no one was injured during the “trip wire” gag.

The first humerous thing that happened was when we were all sitting around waiting for David to come walking up the road.  All the sudden, Charlie, the caretaker here at the ranch starts up the path on his little dune buggy type vehicle to take the trash to the trash pile.  I have never in my life seen Garrett run so fast.  He had tied the “trip wire” to a tree on one side of the road and to a small cut down tree on the other side of the road.  He went sprinting down the road to move the log to the other side of the road so Charlie wouldn’t break the “trip wire”.  It was hilarious! I wish we had that on video.  Micah just cut the thigh high “trip wire” before Charlie reached that point.  Charlie still doesn’t know that anything was going on.

After they finished putting up new line; David finally comes toward camp.  Ashley decided to video the entire thing.  David was tripped up a little by the knee high line so he started explaining to the kids that that’s not the way you set up a trip wire.  By this time he has reached the thigh high trip wire and saw it before he reached it.  He’s still explaining how you set up a trip wire while he is walking into the tent.  It didn’t trip him but the entire group roared with laughter as he is standing there with a trip wire at his ankles.  It was all caught on tape and is pretty comical!

David then leaves the tent area again, giving the boys another opportunity to put up trip wire!  They then decided to spider web the lines back and forth across the road.  They then put up a “clothes line” across the road to distract David from the spider webs!  David was distracted and did trip through a couple of them as he’s breaking them along the path to the tent!  We all laughed and David took it well!  Not sure what might happen next!

The food continues to amaze me!  These ladies are so wonderful.

I had to slow the sawyers down today as they seem to be trying to kill the kids.  We are all pretty tired but I’m assuring everyone that we will be slowing down tomorrow!

I better go since the kids are waiting to play “I have never”.  Stay tuned for more adventure updates!
