Day 05 (8-10-11)

Good morning everyone!  I wanted to update early as the Manager, Tammy, flew in this morning to drop off supplies.  She was extremely happy.  She said they could see the difference immediately!  I was so excited that she was happy.  No one knew what to expect.  She took a bunch of pictures and will be posting them hopefully today at http://www.flyingresortranches.com so check it out and let us know what you all think.

I will update more later!  Have a wonderful day.  It’s going to be HOT here today!!

I wanted to let everyone who is reading this that you can see pictures of some of our piles if you go to http://www.flyingresortranches.com and click on the live web cam; Root Ranch South.  Scroll down until you can see the solar panels and you can see some of our piles!  🙂

We just finished a wonderful dinner of homemade chicken pot pie.  I have never seen such a huge pot pie before and we devoured it!  Beth is so awesome that she made RJ his own pot pie as the big one had carrots in it!

Last night we began playing “I have never”.  It is a little difficult to play when you’ve played with everyone before so we changed it up.  It became “I have”.  The kids enjoyed it so much more and we learned alot about each other.

I got the bright idea to read a book for a little while after we went to bed.  I borrowed Micah’s head light and had it on and all was going well until a fly decided he wanted the light more……I was slapping at him and then he almost went in my mouth and I made a spitting noise.  That’s all it took for Jocelyn to start laughing since her head is right by mine.  I started laughing and we both had tears in our eyes before Ashley groaned.  I had to really concentrate not to laugh harded because of Ashley.  It was one of those things you had to be there to understand.  Jocelyn and I had a good laugh over it at any rate!

The kids have been rejuvinated by the thought of having a day off.  They are working so hard and we want them to continue to so we are planning on going for a horse riding trip this Saturday.  Parents, please return the waiver forms to Joyce ASAP so all who wish to participate (that’s everyone) can!!

So, I began my day with the intention of finishing up what I thought was a little bit of limbing.  It was alot more than I thought so I had to get backup help.  There was one branch that was really stubborn so we wrapped it around the tree and when that didn’t get the job completely done, Micah decided to hang from the limb (more like a small tree).  So he yells ARREEBAAAA and the limb breaks immediately.  I so wish I had the camera rolling.

Charlie is quite the character.  He told the kids about feeding a chicken whiskey and we have all laughed over that one more than once!  He is hilarious!  He has more stories…..Jon has alot of good stories too.  Dale is pretty quiet but we are getting to see a fun side of him as well.

Last night, Garrett and David decided to hike up to the top of a mountain called “Witches Tit” (sorry, that really is it’s name and you will understand why they call it that when I can post the picture).  I don’t know where they get the energy!!!

Tonight everyone is pretty tired as it was really warm again today.  They decided to take advantage of having the lodge all to themselves and the large array of movies.  I had to laugh as we came in to eat dinner and Micah had paused the movie not realizing that with a VHS tape it stops where it is, unlike a DVD.

A dirty rotten furry rascal ate a hole in the corner of my black garbage bag and ate an entire Reeses Peanut Butter Cup.  I hope he has a bellyache!!!  Needless to say, I moved the treats to the Lodge……DUH!

Well, that’s about all I can think of for tonight.  I think we will all sleep well!  I hope everyone continues to read this blog.  Until tomorrow…….goodnight!  🙂
