Day 06 (8-11-11)

I have to say I’m a little sad……….  When Tammy was here yesterday, Dave told her the only thing that he’d heard or seen that upset him at all was when I told one of the youth not to take all of the bacon or sausage that was left over from breakfast that we were eating for a snack so that there would be some for others.  Tammy told Dave that she would send a whole crate of bacon if that was the case.  It made me feel good to know that he hasn’t found anything to complain about with our group.  You parents should all be proud!!  🙂

This morning we received a most wonderful treat before we began working for the day!  We saw the most beautiful, big, bull MOOSE!!!  It was so awesome and we got some wonderful pictures of it.  It was a most wonderful way to start the day!

We took out a school marm this morning between the new cabin and the little cabins that Dale and Jon are staying in.  We had the sun at our backs, a beautiful morning, and the scent of stinky outhouse in our nostrils!  It was “lovely”?????  Oh well, you can’t always have it perfect!

We pushed really hard today and everything is cleaned up to the cross roads except for a  small amount of limbing.  Makes me feel good as Jim Davis thought that was how far we would get in the whole two weeks!

One of my wonderful Blog readers wanted to know what the fabulous food was that we’ve been eating up here.  Tonight we are having Lasagna, garlic bread, green salad, watermelon, and rubarb dessert.  There are always homemade cookies any time we want them!  It’s SWEET – literally!!  😉

We did not play “I have” as we are waiting until Beth, Dave, Kate, and Charlie (help us all) will play with us!  Should make for an interesting game with Charlie playing!  🙂  We love you Charlie!!!

Some of the kids are enjoying playing Blackjack or 21.  The found some “poker chips” to make it more interesting.  I drew the line when Garrett wanted to charge everyone $5.00 to play.  Micah informed him that he would have to take out a line of credit to do that!  They are still having fun and enjoying the game.

Ashley has taken to drawing animals on the chalkboard.  Jocelyn will be getting her turn on Saturday, one way or another.  I promised Ashley that we will take pictures of all of her art before it gets erased.  Others are enjoying spending more time in the Lodge now that we are the only “guests” here.  We all laze around watching VHS tapes or read books.

So last night I decided to be a nice person, cause that’s just the way I am…..stop laughing!  I made the girls beds up so they would be warmer.  When we got ready to go to bed, I threw back my sleeping bag to get in and my little blanket that I’ve had in there was no where to be found.  I’m sure my face was priceless in the dim light.  Jocelyn had “short sheeted” my sleeping bag.  Instead of folding up the blanket at the bottom of my sleeping bag, she stuffed it all down in the foot of my sleeping bag!  The little rascal!  To make up to me she gave me the most wonderful foot massage.  I must say my feet did feel a little better today!  Thanks Jocelyn!

That’s about all for our adventures today.  Until next time…..keep reading and keep smiling!  🙂
