Day 11 (8-16-11)

We got alot of thinning accomplished today.  It looks wonderful.  Can’t wait for Jim and Joyce to see it on Friday! 🙂

That little furry rascal struck again, darn it!  Micah put the flagging in a zipper pocket but I had a bunch of gallon zip lock bags we brought just in case anyone got sick on the flights here.  It chewed those up some more instead.  I’d like to see him get them now as they are in a zippered pocket now too!  Then Jon had picked up a baggie that I keep granola bars in just in case anyone gets hungry while working.  The little furry buggers ate one of those after chewing a hole in the baggie.  I think the top was opened!!!!  😉

After finding the chewed up baggies, Jon and I looked at the work we’ve done and discussed what else we need to do for the next couple of days.  Jon spots a HUGE green colored cross between a grass hopper and a cricket type bug.  He picks it up to go torture the kids with and it’s leg fell off!  He picked it up again and scared a couple of the kids with it!  It was great.

A couple of us haven’t felt good today but everyone seems to be better now that it’s cooling off and we had a delicious dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, vegetables and cake.  I’ve never had so much dessert in my life!  It’s been wonderful thanks to Beth and Kate!

Friday will be interesting as they have something called the Huskey Fly In.  It’s something people who own Huskey planes do every year.  They pick a Ranch and everyone flys in for the weekend.  Last year there were something like 28 planes.  Joyce may want to warn Walt!  It will be so cool.

Everyone that’s come in to Root Ranch since we started working has had nothing but good comments about it.  That’s encouraging.

Well I have to go finish playing Scrabble with the kids now.  Until tomorrow — Goodnight!  🙂
